This year marks the 3rd year of Bibby Financial Services (Asia) Ltd (‘BFS Asia’) partnering up with Christian Family Services Centre (‘CFSC’) for joint volunteer activity.
On 2 Nov 2019, the BFS Asia team and social workers of CFSC gathered in Tin Shui Wai and took a group of children and their parents to the HKFYG Organic Farm, which is run by the Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups since 2010.
The participated families are active members of CFSC’s children and family services centre in Tin Shui Wai. The service aims at helping people to solve their personal or family problem, provide quality learning environment, organize family life education activities and build up their mutual support networks.
There were about 50 participants in total. Led by the staffs in the organic farm, the group had a lovely guided tour which allows the children to learn more how the organic farm works and benefits to the environment, even had a chance to experience some fun farming time!
After the tour, the group hiked along the Ho Pui Reservoir Family Walk to the Ho Pui Reservoir – voted as one of the 10 Best Hong Kong Scenery Spots, to enjoy the nature. The water of this smallest reservoir in Hong Kong is used for irrigating agricultural lands in North-west New Territories.
“We are so happy taking the children and their parents here to have some fun farming time and enjoy the beautiful scene in the sub-urb.” Said Maria Chung, Managing Director of BFS Asia, “This organic farm visit gives everyone of us a chance to embrace the local environment, learn and experience organic farming and learn to cherish health and the source of food.”
The activity was ended with a happy shopping of fresh vegetables and organic products produced by the organic farm.
